how to skateboardLike a bike, once a person learns how to skateboard they will forever be able to at least kick, push and coast. That was pretty much where I was at about a month ago. I spent my teen years shredding around city streets and local parks but after taking a very long break, I had to learn how to skateboard again. My balance was all off. I’d grown since a teen and forgot how to do the simplest things like olley on the move. My friend sped my learning lessons up by reminding me of pointers. I probably look awkward, standing over 6-feet tall swaying back and forth in the wind like a corn stalk but I can ride again.

As for the ollying, I’ve gotten better. I figured out how to do it consistently while on the move just not very high. It’s all about commitment and not thinking about what could happen if I fall. Learning how to skateboard is still fun. A lot of people my age and older in SoCal still shred. That is why I love this laid-back side of the country.
