mountain biking, camping hiking gearThe desert is a wild place to experience from an outdoor perspective. Every time I get out into the Southwest at least one of the days is either spent wielding around camping hiking gear amongst red rock or mountain biking within desert trails. While out there this time my brother and I decided to drive up to a nearby suburban neighborhood nestled on the foot of a popular mountain to conquer the bike trails. We had loaded up the family SUV, parked in a trailhead lot and unloaded. We were not alone as this was one of the last days before a heat wave was said to bring 90-degree temperatures into the area.

Plenty of joggers and couples sauntered down rocky trails, some of difficulty and some much more laid back on paved concrete. Mountain biking from my standpoint is best when the trail isn’t so rocky where it becomes dangerous. We found the perfect ride that went up, down and all around the area. It made me want to go online and buy new mountain biking gear after viewing cactus, petroglpyh art on the rocks and assorted wildlife.
